The Cottage

Built as a personal retreat. Outfitted as a primary home.

Design 555, Inc. of Alva, Florida drew this house for the owners as their own riverfront retreat. The riverbank rules the floor plan: the living room, the primary bedroom, and the deck all turn to the water. The kitchen is gourmet by design, with three ovens, custom built-ins, and imported finishes that belong to a much bigger house.

The systems read like an off-grid spec. Radiant floor heat. Central air. Heated driveway and sidewalks for the Pennsylvania winter. A whole-house generator. On-demand hot water. Water softener and purifier. Remote-controlled blinds. A 500-gallon propane tank, privately owned. The house is engineered to stay comfortable in any weather and to keep running when the valley doesn't.

Outside, the lot was landscaped with the same care: paver patio, stone fire ring, blue spruces flanking the deck. No steep bank, no steps.
